CAVANSITE

Cavansite is a very rare, hydrous calcium vanadium oxide silicate mineral that crystallizes in prismatic crystals and rosettes. These rosettes are typically small in size, but beautiful in luster. Crystals of Cavansite are typically found on a bed of other zeolite minerals, such as heulandite. The specimens are actually a conglomeration of tiny crystals aggregates, rather than individual crystals. Its name comes from a conglomeration of its chemical composition, Ca-V-Si (calcium vanadium silicate). The deep blue color is a result of the vanadium content. It is a relatively softer stone and has a Mohs hardness of 3-4.

CAVANSITE HISTORY AND USES

Originally discovered in 1967 in Oregon, Cavansite is a relatively rare mineral that is only produced in large volumes from the Deccan Traps, in India. This mine has provided the finest specimens of the mineral species, with lesser-known productions coming from Brazil and Oregon, USA.

Cavansite is known for its rich blue color and prismatic crystals, along with its vanadium inclusion; however, it is not considered a chief ore of vanadium because of its limited inclusivity within the structure. It is still collected for certain industrial applications, but is most often mined for its relative rarity. It is then sold within the international trade markets as a sough-after collection mineral.

CAVANSITE METAPHYSICS

Metaphysically, Cavansite is said to stimulate critical thinking habits. A crystal of the Throat and Third Eye Chakras, Cavansite can help its user to find more logical conclusions to everyday questions. It is said that the mineral can also aid in facilitating deeper connections to the Universe, allowing for the powers of manifestation to create forward progress through regular personal successes. Its close connection to the Third Eye Chakra makes it a terrific crystal for psychic understanding, past life recollection, and ancestral guidance. Physically, Cavansite is said to aid with afflictions of the throat, eyes, and sinuses.
